Trifles

there is something satisfying about seeing a pile of scraps from trimming some blocks being trimmed.

This baby quilt will be for a coworkers’ first grandbaby. It got my kitty’s seal of approval. Don’t worry, it will be washed before it is gifted.

this is made with Moda fabrics from Me and my Sister – Petal Power using the Trifles quilt pattern by Its Sew Emma.

Rose in Bloom

Yes. I did it. I joined yet another block of the month from Fat Quarter Shop. I was iffy at first, but FOMO won out in the end. Plus, you can’t beat the kits or BOM programs from FQS – they are so generous with the fabric! I have rarely had to buy more fabric – and every time I have had to it was due to my error then an error with the pattern or the amounts of fabric given.

It is made with a beautiful line from Lella Boutique called Love Note. When I really looked at the design of the quilt, I thought it would be very pretty in the spot I change out for quilts seasonally in my living room. I thought it would be nice to put it up in May for Mother’s Day or “May Flowers”.

I received the first month last week and when things settled down from all of the hubub from Christmas, I popped into my sewing room and worked on them.

Month One Blocks

My cat, Easton, wanted to help too! But he was more of a nuisance than a help… but you know how cats are. Sometimes they are more nuisance than anything. He is the only one of my cats that is allowed in my sewing room. The others are kittens (we have four 9 month old kittens that are siblings) that just has not learned the ropes yet to being allowed in the sewing room.

Easton being a nuisance

This was such an easy block to make that I had it done in no time. You know, minus the time I spent frog-stitching because I wanted to have the hearts going in the same direction. Also, the flowers have a definite direction to them. I also discovered that I cut that piece incorrectly. But like I said earlier, there was plenty of fabric to fix my mistake.

Designer Mystery – Block 6

So one of my goals this month was to complete the Block 6 of the designer mystery for 2021. This was a very easy block, even though there were a lot of pieces.

This block of the month is turning out to be beautiful. I love Fig Tree fabrics and this line, Strawberries and Rhubarb is absolutely beautiful. I especially like the subtle white on white background.
